Yummy Howl-o-ween Treat Recipes for Pets

Halloween has arrived and once again its time to put on a costume, decorate the house with pumpkins and head out in into the neighborhood for some trick or treating fun. Halloween is an excitingly spooky time and not even pets should have to miss out on all the fun and yummy treats that surround this special occasion. This month's article is full of delicious pet treats for you to make for your pet so that they will be able to have as much fun as you this halloween!
 


Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.
  4. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

Dug Out Bones Dog Treats

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1 egg
  • dash of salt

Directions

  1. Preheat over to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix peanut butter, milk and egg.
  4. Add wet mixture to dry and mix well.
  5. Roll out dough and cut into bone shapes.
  6. Place on lightly greased tray.
  7. Bake untill hard. Around 30 minutes.

Doggy Oatmeal Cookie Treats 

  • 2 cups rice 2 packages Reg. Flavor oatmeal (mixed w/milk)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 cup carrots
  • 1/3 cup spinach
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tbsp brown gravy mix
  • 4 tbsp applesauce
  • 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Stir Ingredients, adding flour gradually.
  3. Drop onto cookie sheet using tsp.
  4. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Makes approx. 20 cookies. Enjoy!!!

Canine Carrot Cookies

  • 2 cups carrots -- boiled and pureed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons garlic -- minced
  • 2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ

Directions

  1. Combine carrots, eggs and garlic.
  2. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients.
  4. Roll out on heavily floured surface and cut into bars or desired shapes.
  5. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes or to desired crunchiness.
  6. The centers will continue to harden as they cool.
  7. Brush with egg white before baking for a glossy finish.

  • Pet friendly treats allowed only.
  • Keep decorations out of reach.
  • Make sure doors and gates are closed after trick or treaters leave.
  • Have your pet microchipped and a name tag attached in case they escape.
  • Only dress your pet up if they are ok with it.
